Different Types of Sedation Offered

Many dental patients get nervous before a procedure and may need a form of sedation to help them relax. In fact, many people in the United States do not even visit the dentist because they suffer from dental phobia and cannot overcome their fears enough to ensure proper oral health. At Complete Health Dentistry, we offer sedation options for our patients to help them have a relaxing, comfortable visit without added anxiety. The type of sedation dentistry you receive will depend upon your level of uneasiness and the type of procedure you will be receiving. Speak with an experienced general dentist in Amherst, NY, like Dr. James Lesinski, to learn about the options available for your particular situation.

Ease Your Anxiety With Sedation Dentistry

At Complete Health Dentistry, we are proud to provide our patients with two different types of sedation to help you relax and enjoy your experience at our office. The sedatives we administer are safe, won’t put you to sleep and work so effectively that you probably won’t even recall particulars about the procedure. Here are the different types of sedation dentistry we offer:

  • Oral Sedation

Oral sedation is best for patients with a mild form of anxiety about their appointment. We prescribe a pill that will offer a sleepy, relaxed feeling throughout the length of your procedure. There may be some lingering effects for several hours as the pill wears off.

  • Nitrous Oxide (N2O)

Also commonly referred to as laughing gas, nitrous oxide is administered through a mask into the nasal region. It allows patients to fully relax and be comfortable during their procedure, and once the machine turns off, the effects wear off almost immediately.
