At Atlanta Dental Solutions, we are passionate about offering you the treatments you need to keep your mouth and body healthy, but we understand that many suffer from dental anxiety that makes it difficult to schedule a check-up with a dentist. Because your oral hygiene affects the health of your entire body, Dr. Becker is passionate about making it easy for you to get the assessments, treatments and procedures you need to have a healthy mouth. One way to do that without increasing anxiety is through sedation dentistry, and we have three options that may work for you.

Local Anesthetic

With a local anesthetic, medication is inserted through a needle into the surrounding gum tissues to numb the area and ensure that you don’t feel anything. Once the medication is in full effect, your tongue, chin and cheeks may feel heavy and thick. This is a clear sign that all nerve signals that may trigger a pain response are blocked, and your treatment can proceed with comfort.

Oral Sedation

With oral sedation, you remain awake and conscious during the procedure, but you are given an oral medication about an hour before your appointment that relaxes you and gives you a euphoric feeling about visiting our office. Because you will be under the influence of a drug, you will want to have a ride to and from your appointment.

Nitrous Oxide

Otherwise known as laughing gas, nitrous oxide is given along with oxygen through a mask that is placed over the nose. With this type of sedation, we can control the level of gas you receive, and increase to improve your comfort. The effects of laughing gas wear off quickly after treatment and you should feel fine almost immediately.

Anxiety Free Visit to the Dentist

We know how important good oral hygiene is to your overall health, but we also understand how difficult it can be to overcome a fear of the dentist. We offer these sedation options to ensure that you get exactly what you need from our office. Contact us in Atlanta, GA today to schedule your appointment!
